Quick Start Guide
Get started with OpenStars in just a few minutes.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Sign up for free at openstars.ai. You'll need:
- Your email address
- Your company name
- A password
Step 2: Complete Your Profile
A complete profile dramatically improves your investor matches. Add:
- Industry: What sector are you in?
- Stage: Pre-seed, Seed, Series A, etc.
- Traction: Revenue, users, or other key metrics
- Fundraising goal: How much are you raising?
Step 3: Get Your First Matches
Once your profile is complete, head to the Dashboard and click "Find Investors." Our AI will analyze your profile and return personalized investor matches.
Account Setup
Configure your account for the best experience.
Profile Settings
Navigate to Settings → Account to manage:
- Personal information (name, email)
- Company details
- Industry and stage
- Password and security
Notification Preferences
Control how you receive updates:
- Email: Daily digest or real-time alerts
- Push: Browser notifications for new matches
- Integrations: Slack, Discord, or WhatsApp
How Matching Works
Our AI-powered matching engine connects you with investors who are actively looking for startups like yours.
The Matching Algorithm
We analyze multiple factors to find your best matches:
- Investment Thesis: Does the investor focus on your industry?
- Stage Fit: Do they invest at your current stage?
- Check Size: Does your raise align with their typical investment?
- Portfolio Synergy: Could you benefit from their other companies?
- Activity: How actively are they investing right now?
Match Scores
Each investor match includes a compatibility score from 0-100:
- 90-100: Excellent match - highly aligned with your profile
- 70-89: Good match - strong alignment on key factors
- 50-69: Potential match - some alignment, worth exploring

Complete Your Profile
Profiles with all fields completed get 3x better matches. Don't skip optional fields.
Add Your Website
Our AI analyzes your website to understand your product, market, and positioning.
Update Regularly
As your startup grows, update your traction metrics. Investors want to see momentum.
Provide Feedback
Rate your matches to help our AI learn your preferences. The more feedback, the better matches.

Search and Filter
Use the search bar and filters to find specific investors:
- Search by name, fund, or keyword
- Filter by stage, industry, location
- Sort by match score, activity, or check size
Investor Profiles
Each investor profile includes:
- Investment thesis and focus areas
- Typical check size range
- Notable portfolio companies
- Recent activity and deals
- Contact information (paid plans)
Pipeline CRM
Track your investor relationships from first contact to close.
Pipeline Stages
Move investors through your fundraising pipeline:
- Discovered: New investors you've identified

Adding Notes
Keep track of your conversations by adding notes to each investor card. Notes are searchable and exportable.
Slack Integration
Get OpenStars notifications directly in Slack.
Setup
- Go to Dashboard → Integrations → Slack
- Click "Add to Slack"
- Choose your workspace and channel
- Authorize the connection
